As mentioned, life can be tough for women and girls anywhere in the world but it can be especially challenging in India where discrimination is still an issue.

There are still a lot of women, particularly in India's slum areas, who do not know how to read or write. In today's world of contracts, internet, road signs, and written instructions, not being able to read and write is a serious limitation.

The Good News Center offers help through their Women's Literacy Programs. Women who attend these schools are rewarded by gaining enough proficiency to pass reading and writing competency exams!
